NC 4.1 complete diff.

Postby Gmi » Wed Mar 21, 2012 8:03 am

Hi!!

I was wondering what's the best place to acquire a NC 4.1 diff? I know some people on the forums have done it.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks guys!!

I am keen to install a 4.1 diff. I would like to discuss the alternative ways of approaching this. And the purchase ?

I have a 4.1 diff in the car at the moment. Once the supercharger is installed i will probably want a 3.7 again. Easiest way is to just swap the whole diff.

Charlie Brown is interested but if that falls through who wants to be second in line?

Cheers

I ll put my hand up? When would you know?
How much work to do a change over.
And have you really noticed the lower ratio?

It seems better value to change the diff while the car is still under warranty . Mazda threatens all sorts of things if you replace or swap parts with non mazda parts. Ill wait . The car is bullet proof as we all know but knowing murphy .
So the diff will give me better acceleration , torque . The gear's at present are set up are so tall, especially for our limited speed .
I have been trying to track down the difference in performance of the US cars and ours ? Does any one know?
Deanb90. I have ordered a diff from qld. so ill drop out of the second in line.

yes .. just had the diff swapped over, installed the 4.1. I believe it has made the car a little brisker, more willing .

hi all,

theres a wrecked QLD NC on ebay thats listed at $1 (not the whole car obviously for $1)

its automatic, so if you're interested in getting a 4.1, it might be worthwhile seeing if he'll ship you the whole diff assembly and gauge price

the CWP will bolt straight in, I don't know how the other ratios will be affected

do your own research

if anyone is going to ship to syd, PM me as I want to get something from the car also

Problem is that the auto diff is an open diif not LSD like the manual car. You'd need to strip the crown wheel and pinon out of the auto diff and have it fitted to the manual diff to keep the LSD function.
