Thanks for the photos Matt.

NatMeet was a great time, even though for those of us on the committee it was a tiring stressful time.

Trackday on the Sunday proved a bonus when I won the regularity. The variation per lap from my nominated time was 0.22, 0.14, 0.12, 0.11, 0.27 & 0.06 seconds for a total cumulated variation on just 0.86 second. Good enough to win a set of Kumho tyres by a second from the next three competitors.

It’s been a little while since I’ve done any updating of the NC but Dean put his AEM CAI up for sale so I grabbed it and installed it Saturday Morning.

Image

I needed to swap my track pads out after NatMeet so while the car was up on the stands the nose was taken off and the CAI installed. Started at 7:30 and had the wheel off, pads swapped, wheel arch liners and nose out and back on and the CAI installed by 10:15 with a break for breakfast.

I’m getting a few shots from Tiit and will post them up after they arrive.

GM, yep I know but road tyres slide a little more than R-specs and it takes longer for them to finally grip, so you end up dicing with the road edge further through the corner. Must admit I do the same with R-specs also as it makes for a good entry into T5 and you cut a lot of time off per lap.
I've been off here a few times and I'm more a worry about the underside of the car than the tyres. It make a hell of a racket as I hit stones and dirt.

Thanks Randy. Sorry that I won't be down at PI for the interstate challenge to renew our duel. I get nightmares about you closing in 30 metres on me under brakes into Honda. That and T1 needs improvement on my part.

I’ve been flashed! Well not the way you think.

This morning my car became the first road going NC that Daniel Deckers has reprogrammed with the Dynotronics tune. :D

Daniel’s the agent for the US tuning company Dynotronics and recently flashed Michael’s race car (hall6463) which showed a dyno increase of just under 13rwkW. The only difference between Michael’s and my car is that Michael doesn’t run a cat and has a larger midpipe. Both have Goodwin headers and AEM cold air intakes.

The NC ECU is an interesting piece of equipment. I now need to go and “drive it like you stole it” so the computer can ‘learn’ the best tune. I had no chance of doing that on the drive to work in the M5 crawl, so it may take me a week to find the appropriate place and get the best tune out of it. Too bad I’ll miss the next Wakefield as that is the place to settle the computer in to get maximum output.

When I’ve given it some time to learn I’ll report back on the plusses and if there are any minuses and hopefully a power pull on the same dyno as Michael used.

In the meantime if you are considering a tune you can contact Daniel by email at info@deckspeedracing.com.au or by phone on 0419 463 637.

Woo hoo! If you fancy a visit down south, Macquarie Pass and Jamberoo Pass are calling your name - all in aid of your NC's "education", of course. I'd love to have a ride in the passenger seat while you're here.

I'll be very interested to compare with my Moto-East flash.
I can report that the idle was a bit strange till it was given a good flogging.
At the moment the car is driving better than std and the butt dyno is telling me it's gained about as much again as I got with the headers.
A run on the dyno soon will tell the tale and get some decent logging done to sent to Mike Mann for a custom tune.

That's it...I've stopped....no more till the skill level approaches the performance level :)

More importantly though, what "area under the graph" changes are expected?
