Dodgy day - 7/1/07 - Vic

Postby Blue94t » Tue Dec 26, 2006 10:05 am

I would like to announce a Dodgy day as requested by Monique who needs some lubing done ;)

7/1/07 is the date, starting around 9:30am.

I live in Heatherton, if you would like to be involved PM me for the address.

I have pretty much any hand tools you could need.
Pretty good supply of power/air tools as well.
Got a couple of hydraulic jacks and a couple of sets of axle stands.
I also have an engine crane if anyone needs to take on something that serious.
I am lacking in drill bits as my good set got stolen so if any drilling needs to be done (roll bar fitments, etc) I suggest you bring the size you need.

If you can bring the tools for the job you want to do it will make life easier, happy to supply tools if you can't.
If you want to do any servicing you must take waste oils/fluids with you.
I am more than happy to assist with any jobs on the day but will be reasonably busy with the timing belt/water pump on my car. Once that is done I can assist with anything, and I mean anything ;)
I normally choose to avoid the crappy, dirty jobs.

I will be visiting my parts supplier next week so if anyone needs any bits let me know, I normally get pretty good prices.

Importantly I also have a bbq. If people want to byo meat I can prob organise a salad and some bread or something.

Let me know who is keen so I can get an idea on numbers.

Yay!!! Dodgyness !!!!!!!

Im clueless with anything mechenically minded, so I can do a \"Wayne\" and operate the bbq, generally get underfoot and take photos.
I might be able to rope my ex into comming along, he is my usual fix it man and can be a pretty useful extra pair of hands.

The only things I that come to mind that I need doing/done is my windows and maybe my front break pads. How much are they and where do I get them?

*Bump*
There appears to be a lack of interest in this dodgy day.
Post or pm if you are interested or we can look at moving the date back a week or two if that suits people better.

I'm interested. I don't need to do anything on my car but I am willing to muck around on Mx's all day.

Sorry I didn't see this post

I'm interested in this dodgy day, cos I have a passenger window that needs some attention. Not sure what's exactly wrong with it. All I know is that it doesn't wind properly.

Hope to see some of you this Sunday :)

I need to arrange to have my front brake pads changed, Where can I get some? What should I get? How much are they ? And can we schedule this as a dodgy day event too ?

Depends on what you do with the car Mon :) . There are lot of pads out there for different needs. Look here for some ideas:

 Confusing.... I think from what Ive read that the Bendix Advance is good for normal daily driving and the occasional spirited play on the twisties??

My advances were great until the driver training day we had at Calder Park, slowing for turn 1 killed them -

...then we'd have to look at all the other females in the store for a close match .... and get a bra in that size

Bendix Advance will be fine, or even Mazda OEM.

Bendix Advance can be bought from your nearest ABS Brake Centre and Mazda ones can be purchased from you nearest Mazda dealer.

Edit: I have used these guys a couple of times in the past, good prices and they deliver them to your door.

i might be wrong, but from what i've heard the mx5 oem pads are damn good, as far as oem pads go... if you know what i mean :?:

not sure of it's worth going aftermarket unless you are gonna take yr car on the track occasionally.

happy to be corrected if i'm off the mark, just repeating what i've heard
