Guran

Thanks, for many years they lived between Wagga and Narrandera on the Murrumbidgee River, please don't ask me to spell the property name!! I can pronounce it but!! OK, Mr Google can help me here! brb

'WAGINGOBEREMBEE', located near Galore off the Sturt Highway 40km west of Wagga Wagga. Back in the 80's David used to come to some of the local Car Club events, quite young back then

Just a bit of trivia

I assume that you mean Len Lukey of Lukey Mufflers?

Miata

Yes, Len Lukey

I know the property having come from down that way, prime grazing with river frontage but the purchase price astounded me!! What do you get for $126k nowadays? That's a BIG property! Down that way they have some beautiful homesteads, ballrooms etc but not sure what that one was like. Another with extensive property down that way is Tom Barr-Smith, used to Rally years ago, i'm sure it was 1960's, BMC I think for 'Taylors of Menindee'. I remember one night working at the drive-in in WW and in they came in of all things, an AUDI QUATTRO!! I rang my brother, as he like me had never seen one!

I'm rambing!!

I can relate, one of our rels on Mums side, had a house in the Hunter with the full ballroom (black and white terrazzo floor!) and Sunday sit down lunch was usually 30 people at the table. One table, in the grand dining room. The house is now a guest house I believe.

Watched the repeated AS yesterday - well worth a look. Interesting contrast between how feted Jack is in Europe but seemingly less so here, especially in relation to the 50th anniversary of his first F1 world championship.

I thought it was a great story that did justice to his achievements. He must have been a hell of an operator in his day.
I guess the general lack of public (and consequently) media interest in F1 here in Aust. must be the reason that Sir Jack has never been recognised for his achievements at an appropriate level.
