I should try this iRacing scene.

Will it work on any PC compatible steering wheel or only the Logitech versions? I have an older Microsoft Force Feedback steering wheel that I've hardly used with the "flappy paddle" gear change - as JC would say.

It should work with any PC based wheel/pedal setup.

You can sign up for a 1 or 3 month membership if you just want to try it out without spending too much. I think there's also a current offer for new members with a discount on the Indycar and Indy track.

Ok, looks like we'll have to eat our words, because it's been confirmed in left- and right-hand drive. Woo, RHD MX-5 around Phillip Island!

Certainly didn't expect them to offer a RHD version, but very happy that they are :D

Here is the left hand drive version of the upcoming MX-5. There will be a right hand drive version too.

PS: If anyone wants to join and do me a favour, send me a PM and I'll give you my email address to use as a referral to get me participation credits.

Preview vid - looking good. I haven't spent much time in iRacing recently (sadly) but I'll be making an effort for this one. :)

It seems pretty good! I haven't driven iRacing or my own car on a track for a while so take this as you will ... :)

Both versions are faster and easier to drive than the Solstice (which they're replacing). Even though I'm out of practice I hopped in and bettered most of Solstice records by 1 or 2 seconds after a few laps. I've only been doing test drives at the moment as I don't have either of the tracks they're using this week, but I'm hoping to get back into some races next week when I see what the track schedule is (I'm guessing Lime Rock and Laguna Seca since this is the new rookie car).

If anyone wants to give it a go you can sign up for a month or 3 for fairly cheap. And as Damo pointed out - if you PM an existing member they can get some referral credits. :)

No, I didn't get the FW31.

Also, any existing members want to PM and set each other up as iRacing "myRacers"? Nothing like some friendly competition! :D

It's been quite a while since I sat down to an iRacing session, but I downloaded the new build last night and jumped in to give the Raodster a run at PI. Only managed about 6 or 8 laps but first impressions are that this is going to be a great car to race. It's much more forgiving than the Solstice and really allows you to throw the car around a bit without fear of the thing just swapping ends. The base setup has some understeer if you go to hot into the corner and some oversteer if you're too agressive with the right foot and steering input on corner exit (so pretty much like the real thing :) ). Not sure how accurate the times are as I managed a 1:51.9 in my short stint and I know guys like Chris Gough have only managed 1:56s in their NCs with supposedly the same amount of power as listed in the cars specs, however the iRacing cars could be on slicks I didn't check.

Only disappointment for me was the sound. Not really sure how to explain it but with my headphones the sound was quite "tinny" and seemed to float above my head

Looking forward to having a few races with it and getting in some more practice laps at PI before heading down to Island Magic in November.

Haven't really sussed out the "myracers" thing but happy to hhok up and keep in touch.

Paul.

+1 - it's a bit "buzzy" and doesn't sound much like any of my MX5s, let alone the various race versions I've heard.
