Not sure if you mind looking at NAs. If not then yes I have done it when I rebuilt her back in 1999. I removed all the Australian stickers/badges front and rear. Replaced it with a single Roadster badge where the Mazda badge would be on the rear panel. I think the Roadster badge had two protruding tabs which I shaved off and used double sided tape to adhere it to the rear panel. This makes me think that perhaps there were holes left behind ... but it has been 9 years so I could be wrong. Any NB8 owners out there to confirm?

personally i dont like them, i think that was a suicide statement on this forum. but iguess we all have our dislikes.

but that na looks exceptionally nice. especially the rims. when and why did you get rid of it?

My Volk Racing TE37s were originally silver and were resprayed to match the new paint job at the time. However being 17"x7", when I started getting into motorsports at local grassroot level, I realised that I needed 16"x7" for many reasons. The main reasons were the cost and fitment of 16" semi-slick tyres (much taller sidewalls).

So the Volks were sold in in 2005 or 2006 I can't remember now.
Bought 2 sets of Enkei RPF1s - 1 set of gold 17" for street use and 1 set of silver 16" (very light for the size) for track use. Then I realised I was hardly driving the car on a daily basis as I was only taking it out for club days and track days. So the gold ones were sold off to someone off this forum in Melbourne or Sydney, I believe.

That is the story. She has certainly come a long way from a stock as a rock white 1989 NA6.

I'm 33 mate. It has taken me close to 3 years non-stop rebuilding the old girl ground up.

All in all after near on 10 years, I still am always doing things to it.

Never rush things. Patience really pays off when building a long term project.

Here is the method i use to remove badges and side moldings. It may be of use to some of you either now or in the future. Any questions just ask!

Disclaimer/warning: I takes no responsibility for any damage that occurs to your vehicle if you use this guide. I suggest you use due caution and common sense when using this guide. In cases where a sticker/badge has been on the car for numerous years it is possible to remove the clear coat. This is highly unlikely but possible.

Step One

Wash the area
This means there is no dirt around for you to rub into the paint which has the potential to cause scratching. You will be left with this


Step Two
Use a hair dryer or heat gun to heat the badge. This softens the adhesives and will make it much less likely you cause serous damage (as per the warning).



Now use a bit of fishing line to pull the badge off. Once you have lifted the leading edge you should be able to scrap the fishing line and just pull it off with your hands. Heat it as you go the keep the adhesives pliable.
It will leave you with this



Step Three
To remove the residual adhesives i spray it with Stoners Xenit and let it dwell for 5 or so mins. Im told eucalyptus oil works well but ive not tried. You could also try wax and grease remover. Be aware whatever you use will remove any wax you have on the paint.



Step Four

After it has sit for 5 or so mins gently use an old microfiber towel to remove the letters. This will swirl the paint for sure but it will be fixed soon. As the towel gums up keep turning it to expose a new section. I then Clay the area to ensure all adhesive is removed. Wash the area to remove all traces of the ahedsive remover/clay lube.
It will look like this


Step 5

Polish the area to restore the colour/remove the swirls. I used the rotary, however it can be done by hand. I only used menzerna final finish on a white pad at 600 rpm so thats the least aggressive combo you will get.

Step Six

Once you have polished it wash/alcohol wipe the area to remove polish residue and follow with a coat of wax or sealant.

The final result will look something like this (these pics are pre wash and wax)

Ooops sorry Mike, the first time I posted that reply I think my connection had crashed and it didnt work, when I redid it I forgot to quote psycho. Fixed it now
